MENTAL HEALTH\CRISIS INTERVENTION
WHAT IS COVERED? Short-term crisis intervention counseling when no other services are available to the recipient:
- Initial assessment
- Development of Treatment Plan which would also include duration of each session for a maximum allowable time of 2 hours and cost
- A maxumum of 15 sessions (Actual approved number of sessions based on Consultant recommendation)
- Fees and associated travel costs for the licensed mental health professional when it is deemed cost effective to provide such services in the community.
WHO CAN PRESCRIBE AND PROVIDE BENEFITS? Only a licensed Mental Health professional registered to practice in the Province they are located in may offer their expertise in a specific benefit area.
- Psychologist
- Mental Health Therapist
- Clinical Social Worker
- In exceptional cases, a mental health paraprofessional working under the direction of a licensed psychologist or a registered clinical social worker
HOW CAN YOU ACCESS THE BENEFIT?
- Make an appointment with a licensed Psychologist, a Registered Clinical Social Worker or an approved Mental Health Therapist.

WHAT ARE YOU RRESPONSIBILITIES?
- Inform the Service Provider that you are a Bigstone Cree Nation member
- Inform the Service Provider if you have coverage under another health care plan
- Attend all your scheduled appointments
